Sorry it has been a while since we wrote! Cole is doing great. A happy 2+ month old who smiles every morning. He weighs over 12 pounds now, and has survived his first big round of vaccines. Whew! He had a chance to visit with out of town family, and the grandparents have babysat him for an evening. Things are settling down. Although he still throws us a curve ball - like a witching hour every evening where no matter what we do, he remains fussy. Hoping this phase will pass soon!

Nothing is better than holding a sleeping baby. Now if only that baby would go to sleep when mom and dad want him to...
8/22/19
10 pounds 5.5 ounces!!! Getting bigger every day :) Anthony works from home Friday. So we survived the first week with one parent at work, and one parent at home. Whew! Also in Cole news, we have some smiles and even a giggle! Adorable!

Today was Anthony's first day back at work. We all survived! Babysitting by grandparents helped a little :) We were lucky enough to have both of us home with him for the first 5 weeks or so. Made tag teaming sleep a little easier. Now we will just get used to a new routine.

Cole survived his first shopping trip to Costco yesterday! More importantly, mom & dad survived too. He slept the entire time so we got lucky. Pediatrician appointment today, and the doctor said Cole was perfect. We agree. He now weighs 9 pounds 11.7 ounces. Getting bigger! He is also 22 inches long now, so he grew 1.5 inches already. Although we swear he has grown more than that...He seems to be sleeping for at least one 4(ish)-hour chunk of time at night, which we appreciate.

Cole is now one month old. We are still amazed at how fast time seems to fly by. Days are filled with feeding sessions, sometimes marathon feeding sessions, trying to convince Cole to take a nap, changing diapers, and tummy time. We just discovered Cole loves to do tummy time while on top of an exercise ball. He will even roll over from his stomach to his back while on the ball! Our little daredevil.

9 pounds 3 ounces! Way to eat Cole!

Following along with the diapers, we are now not in Newborn clothes. He is too long for the newborn clothes! Cole is doing great. He only woke up once in the past two nights. But then proceeded to be awake for over 2 hours...so good that he only woke up once. Bad that he wouldn't go back to sleep. We'll see how tonight goes!

Had a successful first social outing with a dinner with family. No big melt downs (Cole or parents), didn't run out of diapers, and Cole slept well over night. Whew! Cole is getting bigger. We have moved out of Newborn size diapers, and into Size 1. He is growing so fast!

8 lbs 6.5 oz! He keeps on gaining weight, which is fantastic. We tried to watch a movie last night. The 3-hour movie took almost 5 hours to finish. All those breaks for feedings, diapers, burping and dinner for ourselves sure stretched out the movie. Guess it will be a while before we can watch a movie from start to finish like we did in the pre-baby days.

Last night and today were better. Thank goodness! Daytime naps for the win! Cole loves tummy time. He is so strong he is trying to pull himself around with a commando crawl - staying on his stomach and pushing from his legs while pulling from his arms for leverage. He worked his way from the middle of a blanket to the edge, moving at least a foot!

It was a rough night last night, followed by a rough day. Cole wanted to eat about every 2 hours last night, and most of today. And decided that napping during the day was overrated. Who needs to sleep when the sun is out? He also wanted to be held. ALL THE TIME - fussing and crying when we would try and put him down for a nap. Here's hoping tonight goes better!
7/28/19
Even though we are tired, I don't think we have ever laughed so much. From Cole's facial expressions and smirks, to our narration of what Cole is thinking, to our reactions to everything he does (who knew baby farts could be funny?).
7/27/19
Cole let us sleep for almost 3 hours last night - in a row! That felt HUGE! Cole is doing well, and continues to gain weight. On Thursday, 7/25, he weighed in at 7 lbs 12.5 oz. Gaining every day! Cole is enjoying bath time - he loves the water. We think he is a hair guy. He loves having his hair washed and brushed.
7/24/19
Cole is 2 weeks old! Time is moving fast, and slow - all at the same time. Cole got top marks from the pediatrician today. He now weighs more than his birth weight - 7 lbs 10.6 oz! Keep it up Cole! The doctor said we can let Cole sleep at night until he wakes up hungry, instead of us waking him up to feed him. Cross your fingers this means more than 2 hours of sleep at a time tonight for us parents!
7/23/19
Cole's due date was today- even though he arrived 13 days early. He has gained some more weight. 7 lbs 8.4 oz! Almost back at his birth weight! We are still clearly smitten as all of his coos, farts, and burps are still adorable.
7/22/19
A long visit from family meant a longer nap and some time to get things done. Like set up the newest kitchen appliance for Cole - but really for Anthony - the automatic formula dispenser. All in all, it was a good day.
7/21/19
We have decided that hiccups are evil. They completely shake Cole from head to toe. He doesn't seem to mind, but us parents find it hard to watch. 'Us parents' - still getting used to the idea that we are now a Mom and Dad - someone's parents...
7/20/19
Quiet day in the Vigil house. Feedings, diapers, naps, diapers. Repeat. We really enjoy the naps part.
7/19/19
Cole now weighs 7 lbs 6.5 oz! He has officially gained 5 ounces since Wednesday - we are thrilled! All of the waking him up to feed is paying off. He is also still a hit with all the nurses who just love all of his hair. Cole also let us get a whole 5 hours of sleep last night. Not all at once - but it was still wonderful!
7/18/19
A lounging day with family. Trying to gain weight and catch some sleep. In between washing bottles, laundry, bath time, showers, and trying not to ignore our dogs too much.
7/17/19
Happy one week Birthday to Cole! Cole ended up going to see the pediatrician today. He was quite lethargic and having a hard time eating. Although Cole didn't lose any weight, he didn't gain any either. The good news is that by the time our appointment was done he was eating nearly double. His energy level also tripled!
7/16/19
Cole's checkup went well today. His jaundice is subsiding and the doctors concern for him is lessening. Blood work show that his liver is kicking in so his yellow eyes and skin tint should gradually start to fade. Cole is also back in the 7 lb club. Although progress is slow, his weight is finally going up after a long standstill. On top of all this good news, we get a reprieve from doctor visits until Friday. So we can focus on more fun topics such as the classic game of 'Guess the gas, which end will make the sound next?'.
7/15/19
Doctors visit went okay. Cole gets another checkup tomorrow to monitor his weight since it hasn't moved. The good news is that he went on a cluster feed all last night so hopefully we will have good news to report tomorrow. Still need to monitor the jaundice since his levels haven't moved one way or another...either but his color is getting better.
We took a look at our Fitbit data and we are averaging about 3 hours of sleep per day. Sleep is over rated anyways.
7/14/19
Our own bed is so much better. We finally got more than a hour sleep. Today the doctors are coming to our home to go over some things and do bloodwork. Hope all goes well. Cole is bringing his head up and trying to sleep on his side already too.
7/13/19
We are starting to find our groove. After a very busy and chaotic morning we were finally discharged and was able to bring Cole home!
7/12/19
Last night was definitely exhausting ... it was like a good old fashioned night of studying before a college exam. The bad news was that Cole has been diagnosed with jaundice and has lost some weight. He is currently at 6 lbs 15 oz which we will monitor. Long rough night/day but we are getting through it.
7/11/19
What a busy day ... family, doctors, and little Cole oh boy! We were warned that tonight is going to be brutal, most babies will want non-stop cluster feeding so we will need to stay on top of it. Hopefully it's not too bad.
7/10/19
Welcome to our family and the world Cole Wesley Vigil! After a day delay, a bet between doctors, and a sleepless night waiting for surgery our little hero takes the stage.
7/09/19
Cindy is heading to surgery! Looks like today's the day for little baby Vigil!!!
